I come bearing interesting news that could possibly be good.

If you have followed Chop’s Guide to the Galaxy for any period of time you have seen me talk about Single Man’s Paradise.

Well, on SMP Forum, there are a core group of people who have been there since the day Skins started the forum and over time, though, for the most part, we do not know each other, we have become friends.

We encourage one another, try to help each other out with problems we are having with women, making money or any other number of things… basically, we are like a perverted, dysfunctional family.

One of the main characters in there is a gentleman that goes by the name of Wanderluster, who happens to be of Indian descent.

The other day while I was going off all ad nauseam about Indian girls wearing saris and how it is one of my favorite things in the world, Wanderluster, being the astounding human being he is, offered me a place to stay in Varanasi, India.

And, as far as I know, it did not include any sexual favors I had to perform!

I must be losing my touch, I am a little disappointed by that, honestly…

Wanderluster knows about my dreams of long term travel and has stated before that he feels bad that I seem so far from my goal and this act of kindness certainly shows that he feels my pain.

He told me he had a large house (for India) and that I was welcome there to actually be able to have the time to work on working for myself in my online, location independent endeavors.

He also told me that I did not have to pay rent but that would be entirely too much for the HUGE opportunity he is willing to grant me, I am indebted to him just for saying  that I could come to stay, Not only do I appreciate the thought immensely but the joy of reading and learning about a new possible home has been fun for the last few days since I read his message.

I am writing this post to not only update you on what has been going on and to thank Wanderluster but you let you folk in on the things I have been reading about Varanasi, one of the oldest known cities in the world.

Varanasi dates back to the 11th century BCE and is considered the holiest of India’s seven holy cities, so naturally it is located right on the Ganges river, India’s holy river.

There are 2000 temples withing the confines of this gorgeous and chaotic city and from what I understand, though Shiva is not the only God  worshipped in Varanasi, Shiva is the patron God for the city.

It is believed that people who die in Varanasi are released from the cycle of Birth, Death and Rebirth, so there are a lot of people who come here to die, which makes Varanasi not for the faint of heart because you will witness open air cremations of bodies.

Varanasi is believed to be the home of Buddhism, where Buddha gave his very first sermon in 528 BC and in 1507 the city also played a major role in the creation of Sikhism. Sikhs are absolute badasses, don’t believe me read this and this and this. ALSO, on a side note… learn the different head wear of Muslims and Sikhs, they are not the same… at all… PLEASE stop bitching about the Muslims wearing their headwear in the US Military, most of the people you see are Sikhs.

Due to all my questions about Wanderluster’s home, he ended up doing a location review in the SMP Forum which I will paraphrase somewhat.

According to Wandery, I pretty much have absolutely no possible chance of getting laid in Varanasi, which actually goes for most of India, it is a very conservative country and as I am not Hindu… or pretty, so I B Fucked in that department.

But that is fine because as much as it would be nice to unwrap a nice Indian girl from her Sari, I need to work as much as I can on Chop Inc. to be able to branch out from Wandery’s House.

The cost of living sounds AMAZING in Varanasi, Wanderluster says that so long as you aren’t a bar-fly, you should be able to live there reasonably for about $500 a month.

That is phenomenal, even less than I was planning for in SE Asia which is still where I want to “Start Out” living alone for my Location Independence but a brother can not turn his nose up at a dude willing to help out and $500 a month for all living expenses.

Wanderluster goes on to say that Varanasi is the perfect place to do some serious work grinding because there isn’t much to see and do. This is perfect but I disagree with him on the latter part, Varanasi gives me a SERIOUS history boner from everything I have read and though it is hot as balls there, I would want to go see and experience everything.

I may also be able to shoot to Phuket to work on my diving at Sharkey Scuba because BKK is only a 3.5 hour, direct flight from Varanasi. Hop a couple hour ride to Phuket and BAM! With the fishes.

Another bonus to this nifty town is the fact that it is in northern India, which is close to Nepal. If you read my past post, you will know about my friend Sambob who I lost contact with these last 10 years. Sambob, according to Google Maps, lives 8.5 hours away from Varanasi by car. I may be able to go hang out with him on a visa run if I can make this move.

If I can make this move happen, though I think it will be a HUGE shock to my system, I think I will like Varanasi very much and am really pretty excited about it. I am sure Wanderluster is reconsidering ever mentioning this for as much as I have been blowing up his inbox but regardless, it is a nice thought and helps keep me focused.

For the record, any girl who can make a sari look good is one of my favorite things in the
world, not just Indians and I accept pictures… I’m just saying… Giggity.

Also, Wandery… if you read this and I am wrong on any of my explanations, please let me know… I have been reading between calls at work so I may have misinterpreted.
